Saccharin Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, overseas shipments of saccharin and its salts were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, saccharin exports surged to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Guatemala represented the largest exporter of saccharin and its salts in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Chile (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X tons), El Salvador (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons), Panama (X tons) and Peru (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to saccharin exports from Guatemala stood at X%. At the same time, El Salvador (X%), Peru (X%), Colombia (X%) and Panama (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, El Salvador emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Chile (X%) and Costa Rica (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru and Colombia increased by X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
