Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of polyethylene with a specific gravity of less than X, in primary forms, when their volume increased by X% to X tons. In general, exports, however, showed a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of polyethylene with a specific gravity of less than X, in primary forms expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) was the largest exporter of polyethylene with a specific gravity of less than X, in primary forms, committing X% of total exports. Mexico (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Argentina (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. Colombia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, imports of polyethylene with a specific gravity of less than X, in primary forms amounted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2019 indices.
