Peat Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, shipments abroad of peat decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, peat exports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) was the major exporter of peat, generating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Honduras (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons), together mixing up a X% share of total exports. Panama (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Guatemala (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Honduras (X%), Panama (X%), the Dominican Republic (X%) and Guatemala (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
