In value terms, other papers packaging production totaled $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 8.4%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Other Papers Packaging Exports
Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, shipments abroad of other papers packaging increased by 28% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports posted a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, other papers packaging exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 57%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X tons) represented the key exporter of other papers packaging, achieving 59% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons) and Guatemala (X tons), together achieving a 33% share of total exports. The Dominican Republic (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.
Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the other papers packaging exports, with a CAGR of +15.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Colombia (+9.2%) and the Dominican Republic (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Guatemala experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Chile (-4.3%) and Argentina (-15.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+35 p.p.) and Colombia (+7.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Chile (-4.3 p.p.), Guatemala (-7.1 p.p.) and Argentina (-16.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) emerged as the largest other papers packaging supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Guatemala, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to +13.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (+10.7% per year) and Guatemala (+2.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in the Dominican Republic ($X per ton) and Chile ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) and Brazil ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Other Papers Packaging Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, the amount of other papers packaging imported in Latin America and the Caribbean fell to X tons, which is down by -5.8% on 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 180% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, other papers packaging imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 184%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
Costa Rica represented the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at 68% of total imports. Chile (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Colombia (5.3%). Argentina (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Costa Rica was also the fastest-growing in terms of the other papers packaging imports, with a CAGR of +39.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Colombia (+14.2%), Ecuador (+13.1%), Mexico (+6.6%), Argentina (+6.0%) and Chile (+5.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Costa Rica increased by +55 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Costa Rica ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported other papers packaging in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 6.8% share.
In Costa Rica, other papers packaging imports increased at an average annual rate of +37.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+9.6% per year) and Mexico (+11.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Costa Rica ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
