In 2021, approx. X tonnes of mica were exported in Latin America and the Caribbean; jumping by X% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mica exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a mild decrease. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the e in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per tonne, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of X%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2018 to 2021, the the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Brazil.

Mica Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, purchases abroad of mica decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
In value terms, mica imports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Mexico (X tonnes), distantly followed by Brazil (X tonnes), Chile (X tonnes), Argentina (X tonnes), Paraguay (X tonnes) and Bahamas (X tonnes) represented the main importers of mica, together creating X% of total imports. Uruguay (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Paraguay (with a CAGR of +X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest mica importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Brazil ($X), Bahamas ($X) and Paraguay ($X), together comprising X% of total imports.
Paraguay, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per tonne in 2021, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed temperate growth. The level of import peaked at $X per tonne in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Bahamas ($X per tonne), while Uruguay ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
