Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, overseas shipments of melon seed were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, melon seed exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Brazil was the largest exporter of melon seed in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022.
