Plain Postcard Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

Plain postcard exports amounted to X tons in 2023, growing by X% on the previous year. Overall, exports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plain postcard exports rose remarkably to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Dominican Republic (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) dominates exports structure, together committing X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Antigua and Barbuda (X tons), achieving a X% share of total exports. Colombia (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Peru (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Antigua and Barbuda (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest plain postcard supplying countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were the Dominican Republic ($X), Costa Rica ($X) and Colombia ($X), together comprising X% of total exports. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2022 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Antigua and Barbuda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plain postcard imports surged to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Mexico was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to X% of total imports. Honduras (X tons) took an X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Paraguay (X%), Panama (X%) and Chile (X%). Peru (X tons), Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), Aruba (X tons), Guatemala (X tons) and Cayman Islands (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Paraguay (X%), Peru (X%), Aruba (X%), Honduras (X%), Cayman Islands (X%) and Panama (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Chile (X%), Guatemala (X%) and Trinidad and Tobago (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Honduras (X p.p.), Paraguay (X p.p.), Mexico (X p.p.), Panama (X p.p.), Peru (X p.p.) and Aruba (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of Trinidad and Tobago (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported letter cards, plain postcards and correspondence cards in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Paraguay ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a X% share.

In Mexico, plain postcard imports shrank by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Paraguay (X% per year) and Chile (X% per year).
