In value terms, horsehair exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a resilient increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Peru was the main exporter of horsehair in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2021. Argentina (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Paraguay (X%). Bolivia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In value terms, horsehair imports dropped to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Saint Lucia (X tons) and Bolivia (X tons) were the key importers of horsehair in Latin America and the Caribbean, together committing X% of total imports. Panama (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Haiti (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Mexico (X tons), Saint Kitts and Nevis (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
