Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, exports of handbags in Latin America and the Caribbean skyrocketed to X units, with an increase of X% on 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, handbag exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Mexico prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X units), constituting a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Peru (X units), Colombia (X units) and Chile (X units) - together made up X% of total exports.

Mexico was also the fastest-growing in terms of the handbags exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brazil (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Chile (X%), Peru (X%) and Colombia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Mexico and Brazil increased by X and X percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest handbag supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Mexico amounted to X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (X% per year) and Colombia (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, supplies from abroad of handbags increased by X% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, handbag imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Mexico (X units) was the main importer of handbags, mixing up X% of total imports. Brazil (X units) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Chile (X%). The following importers - Peru (X units), Colombia (X units) and the Dominican Republic (X units) - together made up X% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
