There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Mexico stood at $X per ton.

Brazil (X tons) and Chile (X tons) represented roughly 69% of total imports in 2021. Mexico (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Venezuela (X tons). All these countries together held near 19% share of total imports. The following importers - Peru (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) - together made up 5% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Peru (with a CAGR of +71.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Mexico ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 71% share of total imports. Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.
Among the main importing countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +64.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 36% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.2%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+11.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
