Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, envelope imports expanded slightly to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Mexico dominates imports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. The following importers - El Salvador (X tons), Chile (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Haiti (X tons), Jamaica (X tons), Guatemala (X tons), Panama (X tons) and Nicaragua (X tons) - each resulted at a X% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to envelope imports into Mexico stood at X%. At the same time, Colombia (X%), Panama (X%) and Guatemala (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Haiti, Nicaragua and El Salvador experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Jamaica (X%) and Chile (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Colombia (X p.p.) and Panama (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported envelopes in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by El Salvador, with a X% share.

In Mexico, envelope imports contracted by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (X% per year) and El Salvador (X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2023, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, waning by X% against the previous year. Over the last eleven years, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton.
