Carob Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of carob decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, carob exports fell to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Costa Rica prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Peru (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Costa Rica was also the fastest-growing in terms of the carob exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Peru (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Costa Rica (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Costa Rica ($X) remains the largest carob supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a X% share of total exports.
