Bicycle Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of bicycles and other cycles decreased by X% to X units in 2022. In general, exports recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bicycle exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Brazil (X units) was the largest exporter of bicycles and other cycles, creating X% of total exports. Chile (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Costa Rica (X units), Panama (X units) and Colombia (X units). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Guatemala (X units) and Peru (X units) - each resulted at a X% share of total exports.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Peru (X%), Colombia (X%), Costa Rica (X%) and Guatemala (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Chile (X%) and Panama (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (X p.p.), Costa Rica (X p.p.), Colombia (X p.p.) and Peru (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Chile and Panama saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Chile ($X) remains the largest bicycle supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Panama, with an X% share.

As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then declined notably in the following year.
