Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of alums, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, alums exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Colombia was the largest exporter of alums in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Mexico (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Ecuador (X%). Costa Rica (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Colombia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ecuador (X%) and Costa Rica (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
