Imports into Kuwait
For the fifth consecutive year, Kuwait recorded decline in purchases abroad of hot-rolled bars in bearing steels, which decreased by -27.8% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports faced a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 471%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 543% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Bahrain (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of hot-rolled bearing steel bar to Kuwait, with a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports from Bahrain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by China (X tons), with a 6.4% share.

Bahrain, with a CAGR of +44.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
