Exports from Kenya
In 2022, shipments abroad of soft drinks decreased by X% to X litres for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a measured expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at X litres in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, soft drink exports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Uganda (X litres) was the main destination for soft drink exports from Kenya, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, soft drink exports to Uganda exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Rwanda (X litres), fivefold. Denmark (X litres) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Uganda stood at X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Rwanda (X% per year) and Denmark (X% per year).
In value terms, Uganda ($X) remains the key foreign market for soft drinks exports from Kenya, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Rwanda ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a X% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by X%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mauritius ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Sudan (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of soft drinks decreased by X% to X litres in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X litres in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, soft drink imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
Austria (X litres), Tanzania (X litres) and South Africa (X litres) were the main suppliers of soft drink imports to Kenya, together comprising X% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Africa (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
