Exports from Kenya

In 2022, shipments abroad of industrial roundwood decreased by X% to X cubic meters, falling for the fourth consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, industrial roundwood exports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) was the main destination for industrial roundwood exports from Kenya, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, industrial roundwood exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Rwanda (X cubic meters), fivefold.

In 2022, overseas purchases of industrial roundwood increased by X% to X cubic meters, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X cubic meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, industrial roundwood imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Uganda (X cubic meters) was the main industrial roundwood supplier to Kenya, with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by South Sudan (X cubic meters), with a X% share of total imports.
