Palm Kernel Market Size in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh palm kernel market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2019, after two years of decline. In general, consumption showed a strong expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of palm kernels decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2019. Overall, exports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, palm kernel exports fell sharply to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Afghanistan (X tonnes) was the main destination for palm kernel exports from Kazakhstan, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, palm kernel exports to Afghanistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X kg), fivefold.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume to Afghanistan stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and Russia (-X% per year).

Over the period under review, average export prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2019, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of palm kernels increased by X% to X tonnes in 2019. In general, imports posted a strong increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
