Grapefruit Market Size in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh grapefruit market declined to $X in 2020, falling by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, posted slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the market value increased by X% y-o-y. Grapefruit consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

Grapefruit Exports

Exports from Kazakhstan

In 2020, overseas shipments of grapefruits decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, grapefruit exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a noticeable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. from 2019 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes) and Uzbekistan (X tonnes) were the main destinations of grapefruit exports from Kazakhstan.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia, while exports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Turkey ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) constituted the largest markets for grapefruit exported from Kazakhstan worldwide.

Russia saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average grapefruit export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Kazakhstan

In 2020, overseas purchases of grapefruits decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, grapefruit imports shrank to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Turkey (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and Lithuania (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of grapefruit imports to Kazakhstan, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Africa, Russia, the Netherlands and Israel, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per tonne), while the price for Turkey ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
