Romania (-X%), Australia (-X%), Argentina (-X%), Brazil (-X%), Ukraine (-X%) and Russia (-X%) significantly weakened its position in terms of the global exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($X) remains the largest grain supplier from Kazakhstan, making up X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Russia ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a X% share.

In 2017, approx. X tonnes of grain were imported into Kazakhstan; jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, grain imports continue to indicate a slight deduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017, when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Kazakhstan imports peaked of X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2017, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, grain imports totaled $X in 2017. In general, grain imports continue to indicate a deep drop. Kazakhstan imports peaked of $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2017, it failed to regain its momentum.

Grain Imports by Country into Kazakhstan

In value terms, the largest grain markets worldwide were Japan ($X), China ($X) and Egypt ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. Mexico, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, South Korea, Algeria, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Viet Nam and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Among the main importing countries , Viet Nam (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to imports, over the last decade, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Grain Import Prices by Country in Kazakhstan

The grain import price in Kazakhstan stood at $X per tonne in 2017, waning by -X% against the previous year. In general, grain import price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import prices for grain reached its maximum level of $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2017, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2017, the country with the highest import price was Indonesia ($X per tonne), while Viet Nam ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
