Apple Market Size in Kazakhstan

In 2020, after three years of growth, there was decline in the Kazakh apple market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The apple harvested area peaked in 2020 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Exports from Kazakhstan

In 2020, shipments abroad of apples decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, apple exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

Russia (X tonnes) was the main destination for apple exports from Kazakhstan, accounting for a approx. X% share of total exports.

From 2014 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

Poland (X tonnes), Uzbekistan (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of apple imports to Kazakhstan, together comprising X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Uzbekistan, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest apple suppliers to Kazakhstan were Poland ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and China ($X), together comprising X% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Poland recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the average apple import price amounted to $X per tonne, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 when the average import price increased by X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per tonne), while the price for Kyrgyzstan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
