Canned Mushroom Market Size in Japan

In 2020, the Japanese canned mushroom market decreased by -X% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, consumption recorded a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when the market value increased by X% y-o-y. Canned mushroom consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, canned mushroom exports dropped to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

The U.S. (X tonnes), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the main destinations of canned mushroom exports from Japan, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Canada, Hong Kong SAR and Sweden, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Hong Kong SAR, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for canned mushroom exported from Japan were Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), the U.S. ($X) and China ($X), together comprising X% of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, China saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the amount of canned mushrooms imported into Japan dropped to X tonnes, declining by -X% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, canned mushroom imports fell to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight slump.
