Non-Alloy Steel H-Sections Market Size in Japan

In 2020, the Japanese non-alloy steel h-sections market decreased by -X% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, consumption recorded a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In 2020, approx. X tonnes of h-sections of of non-alloy steel were exported from Japan; growing by X% compared with 2019. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections exports reached $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

South Korea (X tonnes) was the main destination for non-alloy steel h-sections exports from Japan, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, non-alloy steel h-sections exports to South Korea exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by China (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to South Korea totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+X% per year) and China (+X% per year).

In value terms, South Korea ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-alloy steel h-sections exports from Japan, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to South Korea amounted to -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+X% per year) and China (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average non-alloy steel h-sections export price amounted to $X per tonne, falling by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices to China ($X per tonne) and Singapore ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per tonne) and South Korea ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Japan

In 2020, imports of h-sections of of non-alloy steel into Japan dropped rapidly to X tonnes, declining by -X% compared with 2019 figures. Overall, imports saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections imports reduced markedly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2020, South Korea (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of non-alloy steel h-sections to Japan, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, non-alloy steel h-sections imports from South Korea exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tonnes), eightfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from South Korea amounted to +X%.

In value terms, South Korea ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-alloy steel h-sections to Japan, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by China ($X), with a X% share of total imports.

The average non-alloy steel h-sections import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
