Acyclic Hydrocarbons Market Size in Japan

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons exports shrank markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. from 2014 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

China (X tonnes) was the main destination for acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Japan, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, acyclic hydrocarbons exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Korea (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to China amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (-X% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+X% per year).

Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices to South Korea ($X per tonne) and China ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per tonne) and the U.S. ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

Imports into Japan

In 2020, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of acyclic hydrocarbons, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons imports fell remarkably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

The U.S. (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of acyclic hydrocarbons imports to Japan, with a combined X% share of total imports.
