In 2021, the Italian wooden window market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decrease. Wooden window consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wooden window exports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Israel (X tons), Algeria (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) were the main destinations of wooden window exports from Italy, together comprising 44% of total exports. The United States, Mexico, Germany, Canada, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Hungary, France and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Hungary (with a CAGR of +103.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wooden window export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 12%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
