Molybdenum Market Size in Italy
The Italian molybdenum market fell notably to $X in 2021, dropping by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption recorded a deep setback. Molybdenum consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tonnes. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, molybdenum exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United States (X kg), Serbia (X kg) and Germany (X kg) were the main destinations of molybdenum exports from Italy, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Hungary and France, which together accounted for a further X%. Moreover, molybdenum exports in the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest exporter, Serbia, twofold.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Hungary (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest markets for molybdenum exported from Italy were Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and Serbia ($X), together comprising X% of total exports. Hungary and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average molybdenum export price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to France ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of molybdenum imported into Italy shrank markedly to X tonnes, falling by -X% on the year before. In general, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, molybdenum imports fell dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of molybdenum to Italy, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, molybdenum imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tonnes), twofold. China (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Netherlands totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (-X% per year) and China (+X% per year).
In value terms, the largest molybdenum suppliers to Italy were the Netherlands ($X), Belgium ($X) and China ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports. The UK lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further X the main suppliers, the UK, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average molybdenum import price amounted to $X per tonne, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($X per tonne) and the UK ($X per tonne), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per tonne) and Belgium ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
