Magnesite Market Size in Italy

For the third year in a row, the Italian magnesite market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by X% to $X in 2020. In general, consumption continues to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In value terms, magnesite exports totaled $X in 2020. In general, exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Morocco (X tonnes), Malaysia (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main destinations of magnesite exports from Italy, together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Russia, Luxembourg, Sweden, the Czech Republic, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Ukraine, Slovenia and Serbia, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Sweden, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Malaysia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for magnesite exports from Italy, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Morocco ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Malaysia amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Morocco (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).

In 2020, the average magnesite export price amounted to $X per tonne, jumping by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a remarkable increase. As a result, export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, overseas purchases of magnesite increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports continue to indicate a measured increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, magnesite imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports saw notable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.
