Exports from Italy

In 2022, shipments abroad of glass fibre mats was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports fell modestly to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 15%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

France (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of glass fibre mat exports from Italy, with a combined 53% share of total exports. Croatia, the United States, Spain, China, Belgium, Portugal, the Czech Republic, the UK, Austria and Canada lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Croatia (with a CAGR of +70.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X tons of glass fibre mats were imported into Italy; which is down by -12.3% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +16.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 33%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibre mat imports to Italy, with a combined 65% share of total imports. China, Egypt, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Turkey and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Egypt (with a CAGR of +110.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
