Polyethylene Market Size in Israel

The Israeli polyethylene market declined to $X in 2020, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, exports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2010 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, polyethylene exports declined sharply to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil (X tonnes), Argentina (X tonnes) and Italy (X tonnes) were the main destinations of polyethylene exports from Israel, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Argentina (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for polyethylene exported from Israel were Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising X% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Argentina (+X% per year) saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average polyethylene export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices to Argentina ($X per tonne) and Portugal ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per tonne) and the UK ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the U.S., while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Israel

Polyethylene imports into Israel contracted to X tonnes in 2020, which is down by -X% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, polyethylene imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2020. In general, imports saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2020, the U.S. (X tonnes) constituted the largest polyethylene supplier to Israel, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, polyethylene imports from the U.S. exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tonnes), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Thailand (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the U.S. totaled -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+X% per year) and Thailand (+X% per year).

In 2020, the average polyethylene import price amounted to $X per tonne, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices from India ($X per tonne) and the U.S. ($X per tonne), while the price for Thailand ($X per tonne) and South Korea ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
