Green Peas Market Size in Ireland

The Irish green peas market expanded rapidly to $X in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, saw a mild decrease. Exports by Country

The UK (X tonnes) was the main destination for green peas exports from Ireland, with a approx. X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK stood at +X%.

In value terms, the UK ($X) also remains the key foreign market for green peas exports from Ireland.

Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, green peas imports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2009 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2020, the UK (X tonnes) constituted the largest green peas supplier to Ireland, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, green peas imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Guatemala (X tonnes), twofold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the UK amounted to -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Guatemala (+X% per year) and Kenya (+X% per year).

In value terms, the largest green peas suppliers to Ireland were the UK ($X), Guatemala ($X) and Kenya ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.

Guatemala recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the average green peas import price amounted to $X per tonne, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a modest expansion from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, green peas import price increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per tonne), while the price for the UK ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
