Canned Food Market Size in Ireland

The UK (X tonnes) was the main destination for canned food exports from Ireland, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, canned food exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by France (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+X% per year) and France (+X% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for canned food exported from Ireland were the UK ($X), China ($X) and France ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2007 to 2019: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2009 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2019 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
