Exports from Iraq
In 2022, shipments abroad of vegetables and melons decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the fourth consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, exports, however, saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vegetable and melon exports fell rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Turkey (X tons) was the main destination for vegetable and melon exports from Iraq, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, vegetable and melon exports to Turkey exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Qatar (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Turkey stood at X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (X% per year) and Kuwait (X% per year).

Moreover, vegetable and melon imports from Iran exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), sixfold. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Iran totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (X% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (X% per year).
