The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 437% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2019, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Finland (X tons) was the main destination for wood pellets exports from Iran, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 658%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wood pellets imports contracted sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 703% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) was the main wood pellets supplier to Iran, with a 93% share of total imports. Moreover, wood pellets imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belgium totaled +25.2%.
In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of wood pellets to Iran, comprising 89% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with an 11% share of total imports.

Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average wood pellets import price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, wood pellets import price increased by +71.4% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 48% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium stood at $X per ton.
