Exports from Iran

In 2021, overseas shipments of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery) decreased by -28.8% to X kg, falling for the seventh year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, exports saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 175% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, quilted textile products exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 209%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Iraq (X kg) was the main destination for quilted textile products exports from Iran, with a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, quilted textile products exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Turkey (X kg), more than tenfold. Oman (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iraq amounted to -10.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+3.4% per year) and Oman (-32.7% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Iraq stood at -17.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (-18.4% per year) and Armenia (0.0% per year).

In 2021, the average quilted textile products export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -40.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a notable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 604%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, quilted textile products imports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 560% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), China (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of quilted textile products imports to Iran, together accounting for 100% of total imports.
