Exports from Iran
In 2022, shipments abroad of fibreboard decreased by X% to X cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, fibreboard exports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then plummeted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Iraq (X cubic meters) was the main destination for fibreboard exports from Iran, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, fibreboard exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Afghanistan (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Turkey (X cubic meters), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Iraq amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Afghanistan (X% per year) and Turkey (X% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkmenistan (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Iran
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of fibreboard increased by X% to X cubic meters in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fibreboard imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Thailand (X cubic meters) constituted the largest fibreboard supplier to Iran, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, fibreboard imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X cubic meters), fourfold. Turkey (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Thailand was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (X% per year) and Turkey (X% per year).
