The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X units) was the main destination for typewriter exports from Indonesia, accounting for a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, typewriter exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), twofold. Hong Kong SAR (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled -10.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-20.3% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-28.3% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for typewriters and word-processing machines exports from Indonesia, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to -10.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-19.9% per year) and the UK (-6.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average typewriter export price amounted to $X per unit, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, typewriter export price decreased by -32.5% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+23.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Indonesia
For the ninth consecutive year, Indonesia recorded decline in overseas purchases of typewriters and word-processing machines, which decreased by -6.8% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant decline. The smallest decline of -6.4% was in 2020. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, typewriter imports fell significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a dramatic decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 11%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) was the main typewriter supplier to Indonesia, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, typewriter imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X units), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -21.5%.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) and China ($X) were the largest typewriter suppliers to Indonesia.
In terms of the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of -26.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review.

The average typewriter import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -13.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, typewriter import price decreased by -42.2% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 54% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the price for China stood at $X per unit.
