Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, virgin olive oil exports contracted markedly to $X in 2020. In general, exports recorded a sharp reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Viet Nam (X kg) was the main destination for virgin olive oil exports from Indonesia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, virgin olive oil exports to Viet Nam exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Singapore (X kg), twofold. Bangladesh (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Viet Nam was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (-X% per year) and Bangladesh (+X% per year).

In value terms, Viet Nam ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for virgin olive oil exported from Indonesia worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Bangladesh (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average virgin olive oil export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average export prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, overseas purchases of virgin olive oil increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports posted a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. from 2017 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, virgin olive oil imports rose markedly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Italy (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes) and Egypt (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of virgin olive oil imports to Indonesia, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest virgin olive oil suppliers to Indonesia were Italy ($X), Spain ($X) and Egypt ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.

Egypt recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
