Exports from Indonesia

In 2022, overseas shipments of lamp holders, plugs and sockets decreased by -59.8% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, posted buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 131%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, lamp holder exports declined markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 171% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Singapore (X tons) was the main destination for lamp holder exports from Indonesia, with a 0.8% share of total exports. Moreover, lamp holder exports to Singapore exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), tenfold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with less than 0.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Singapore totaled +26.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+6.3% per year) and the United States (+48.7% per year).

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the key foreign market for lamp holders, plugs and sockets exports from Indonesia, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 5.7% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Singapore totaled +24.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+12.0% per year) and the United States (+50.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average lamp holder export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -10.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 102% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Lamp holder imports into Indonesia soared to X tons in 2022, rising by 145% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, lamp holder imports reached $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest lamp holder supplier to Indonesia, with a 1% share of total imports. Moreover, lamp holder imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Singapore (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Vietnam (X tons), with a 0.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +1.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (-0.9% per year) and Vietnam (+157.2% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of lamp holders, plugs and sockets to Indonesia, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with an 8.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +11.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-6.5% per year) and Japan (+3.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average lamp holder import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8.5% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 88% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
