Over the period under review, brown rice exports reached their maximum at X tons in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, brown rice exports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, brown rice exports, however, continue to indicate a temperate setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, brown rice exports reached their peak of $X. From 2014 to 2018, the growth of brown rice exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Taiwan, Chinese (X tons) was the main destination for brown rice exports from Indonesia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the U.S. (X kg), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Taiwan, Chinese stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the U.S. (-X% per year) and Canada (+X% per year).

In value terms, Taiwan, Chinese ($X) remains the key foreign market for brown rice exports from Indonesia, comprising X% of total brown rice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the U.S. ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value to Taiwan, Chinese stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the U.S. (-X% per year) and Canada (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average brown rice export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the brown rice export price, however, continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the U.S. ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the U.S., while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2018, the imports of husked (brown) rice into Indonesia amounted to X tons, declining by -X% against the previous year. Overall, brown rice imports continue to indicate a dramatic contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, brown rice imports reached their peak of X tons. From 2011 to 2018, the growth of brown rice imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, brown rice imports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, brown rice imports continue to indicate a dramatic deduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. In that year, brown rice imports attained their peak of $X. In 2018, Myanmar (X kg) constituted the largest brown rice supplier to Indonesia, with a X% share of total imports.
