Frozen Vegetables Market Size in Indonesia

For the ninth consecutive year, the Indonesian frozen vegetables market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by X% to $X in 2020. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Frozen Vegetables Production in Indonesia

In value terms, frozen vegetables production expanded rapidly to $X in 2020 estimated in export prices. Over the period under review, production showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level in 2020 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Frozen Vegetables Exports

Exports from Indonesia

In 2020, approx. X tonnes of frozen vegetables and mixtures of vegetables were exported from Indonesia; waning by -X% against the year before. In general, total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, frozen vegetables exports shrank to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2019, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports by Country

Japan (X tonnes) was the main destination for frozen vegetables exports from Indonesia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, frozen vegetables exports to Japan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tonnes), tenfold. Russia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Japan stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and Russia (+X% per year).

In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the key foreign market for frozen vegetables exports from Indonesia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the U.S., with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Japan stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and the U.S. (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average frozen vegetables export price amounted to $X per tonne, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs in 2020 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the U.S. ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Frozen Vegetables Imports

Imports into Indonesia

In 2020, purchases abroad of frozen vegetables and mixtures of vegetables decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen vegetables imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes) and Belgium (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of frozen vegetables imports to Indonesia, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and France, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Thailand (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest frozen vegetables suppliers to Indonesia were China ($X), the U.S. ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.

Thailand (+X% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average frozen vegetables import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2013 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average import prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per tonne), while the price for Belgium ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the U.S., while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
