The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, preserved sweet corn exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 423% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Norway (X tons) were the main destinations of preserved sweet corn exports from India, with a combined 72% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Latvia, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 27%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Sweden (with a CAGR of +2,021.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Norway ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for preserved sweet corn exported from India worldwide, together accounting for 69% of total exports. Latvia, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
Among the main countries of destination, Sweden, with a CAGR of +1,520.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average preserved sweet corn export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 10% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (-4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Preserved Sweet Corn Imports
Imports into India
In 2021, purchases abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved decreased by -6.3% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 246% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, preserved sweet corn imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -3.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 95%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Thailand (X tons) was the main supplier of preserved sweet corn to India, accounting for a 97% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), with a 2.6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Thailand totaled +16.0%.
In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of preserved sweet corn to India, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 2.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Thailand totaled +6.5%.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average preserved sweet corn import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a deep downturn. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
