Preserved Peas Market Size in India

The Indian preserved peas market was estimated at $X in 2020, picking up by X% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. For the fourth year in a row, India recorded decline in shipments abroad of preserved peas, which decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. Overall, exports faced a precipitous slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, exports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2017 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, preserved peas exports dropped markedly to $X in 2020. In general, exports continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Nepal (X tonnes), Singapore (X kg) and Canada (X kg) were the main destinations of preserved peas exports from India, with a combined X% share of total exports. Brunei Darussalam and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Brunei Darussalam, while exports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the largest markets for preserved peas exported from India were Singapore ($X), Nepal ($X) and Canada ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Brunei Darussalam and the UK, which together accounted for a further X Darussalam saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average preserved peas export price amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of X% y-o-y. The export price peaked in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Brunei Darussalam ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nepal, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into India

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of preserved peas decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. Overall, imports showed a sharp decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, preserved peas imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2020, the UK (X tonnes) constituted the largest preserved peas supplier to India, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, preserved peas imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tonnes), twofold. China (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the UK amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-X% per year) and China (-X% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of preserved peas to India, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the UK ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany totaled -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+X% per year) and China (+X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average preserved peas import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2020 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+X% per year), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
