As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. from 2015 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

Nepal (X tonnes) was the main destination for potato exports from India, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, potato exports to Nepal exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Oman (X tonnes), eightfold. Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Nepal stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+X% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+X% per year).

In value terms, Nepal ($X) remains the key foreign market for potato exports from India, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Oman ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Nepal amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+X% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average potato export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Mauritius ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2020, potato imports into India amounted to X tonnes, remaining relatively unchanged against 2019. In general, imports showed a pronounced shrinkage. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, potato imports amounted to $X in 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate a modest expansion. Imports peaked in 2020 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
