After three years of decline, shipments abroad of domestic appliances increased by X% to X units in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, domestic appliances exports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Nepal (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Kenya (X units) were the main destinations of domestic appliances exports from India, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, the United States, Bhutan, Sudan, the Netherlands, Somalia, Ghana and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Somalia (with a CAGR of +X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for domestic appliances exported from India were Nepal ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Sri Lanka ($X), together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Bangladesh, Kenya, Nigeria, Bhutan, Ghana, Sudan, the Netherlands, the Philippines and Somalia, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Somalia, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average domestic appliances export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of X%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into India
In 2021, approx. X units of domestic appliances were imported into India; increasing by X% against 2020. In general, imports saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, domestic appliances imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest domestic appliances supplier to India, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, domestic appliances imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Indonesia (X units), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+X% per year) and Indonesia (+X% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of domestic appliances to India, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with an X% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+X% per year) and Indonesia (+X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average domestic appliances import price amounted to $X per unit, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
