Date Market Size in India

The Indian date market skyrocketed to $X in 2020, picking up by X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the market value increased by X% against the previous year. In value terms, date exports soared to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports showed noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Bangladesh (X tonnes) was the main destination for date exports from India, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, date exports to Bangladesh exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United Arab Emirates (X tonnes), sixfold. Singapore (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, approx. X tonnes of dates were imported into India; picking up by X% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, date imports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, imports recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year.
