Clove Market Size in India

In 2019, the Indian clove market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, consumption enjoyed a strong increase. These countries were followed by Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Australia, Madagascar, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2019, the biggest increases were in Indonesia (+X% per year), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($X) remains the key foreign market for clove exports from India, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Canada ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Sri Lanka, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of value to the U.S. totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Canada (+X% per year) and Sri Lanka (+X% per year).

In 2019, the average clove export price amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 an increase of X% year-to-year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2019, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2016; afterwards, it flattened through to 2019.

In value terms, clove imports soared to $X in 2019. Overall, imports recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2019, imports remained at a lower figure.

Moreover, clove imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Madagascar (X tonnes), twofold. Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2019, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Madagascar ($X per tonne) and Comoros ($X per tonne), while the price for Indonesia ($X per tonne) and Sri Lanka ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
