Germany (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main destinations of mounted lens exports from Hungary, together accounting for 77% of total exports.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for mounted lens exports from Hungary, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with a 3% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 2.4% share.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of mounted lenses, prisms and mirrors was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 69%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mounted lens imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 63%. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), China (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main suppliers of mounted lens imports to Hungary, with a combined 76% share of total imports. Israel, Taiwan (Chinese), France and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Israel (with a CAGR of +164.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), China ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) were the largest mounted lens suppliers to Hungary, with a combined 77% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), Israel, Slovakia and France, which together accounted for a further 12%.
Among the main suppliers, Israel, with a CAGR of +125.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mounted lens import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
