Malt Exports

Exports from Hungary

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of malt (not roasted) decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, malt exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Romania (X tons) was the main destination for malt exports from Hungary, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, malt exports to Romania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), threefold. Croatia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Romania totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (X% per year) and Croatia (X% per year).
