Sweden, with a CAGR of +662.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average spectacle frame export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -17.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 109% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, spectacle frame imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 119%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of spectacle frame to Hungary, accounting for a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, spectacle frame imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X units), fourfold. Italy (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +7.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+208.4% per year) and Italy (+16.9% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of frames and mountings for spectacles, goggles or the like to Hungary, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Bangladesh, with an 8.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +15.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+13.4% per year) and Bangladesh (+37.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average spectacle frame import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 6.4% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, spectacle frame import price increased by +71.2% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 30% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+18.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
