Exports from Greece

In 2022, after ten years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of woven fabrics of flax, when their volume decreased by X% to X square meters. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X square meters, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, flax fabric exports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Italy (X square meters), Germany (X square meters) and Turkey (X square meters) were the main destinations of flax fabric exports from Greece, with a combined X% share of total exports. Bulgaria, Romania, Egypt, Portugal, Spain, Poland, Cyprus, Lithuania, Albania and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2020 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Lithuania (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, flax fabric imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year.
